Wells Art Contemporary 2027

For the sixth year in a row, NG Art Creative Residency is proud to sponsor a three-week residency in Provence as part of the prize programme.

One of the UK’s leading contemporary art prizes, Wells Art Contemporary offers artists the opportunity to exhibit in the magnificent setting of Wells Cathedral. Established in 2012, the international open competition welcomes work across a broad range of media, including painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, film and site-specific installation.

Selected works are exhibited within the Cathedral and its grounds, creating a unique dialogue between contemporary art and the historic architecture of one of England’s most significant Gothic cathedrals.

Landscape Open

Landscape Open 2027 celebrates excellence in contemporary landscape art through a major annual exhibition at The Salisbury Museum, showcasing artists working across a diverse range of media and approaches to landscape.

New Emergence Art Prize 2027

In our second year of sponsorship, NG Art Creative Residency awards a two-week residency in Provence to one emerging artist.

New Emergence Art Prize was founded in 2020 by former NG Art artist in residence Habib Hajallie to champion emerging and underrepresented artists from around the world. The international prize is open to artists working in any medium and offers a range of awards supporting artists through financial assistance, materials, mentoring, professional development and international exposure. Shortlisted artists are presented in an online exhibition, providing a platform to reach new audiences.

Creative Assistant Internship 2027

NG Art Creative Residency is on the lookout for a bright, motivated, and creative individual to join our team for March – July 2027, with the opportunity for a second season.
This isn’t just an internship – it’s a chance to live and work in Provence, surrounded by artists from across the globe.

You’ll be part of an inspiring creative community while gaining hands-on experience in:

Working in a restored 17th-century olive mill in Maussane-les-Alpilles, complete with studio access, delicious meals, and a swimming pool!
Social media, PR, and behind-the-scenes residency admin
Networking with artists, curators, and arts professionals worldwide

You will also receive:

Mentoring by Nicky Ginsberg
Full board and lodging
Opportunity to work on your art practice in the shared studio
Use of a car to enjoy the local villages & nearby towns
Use of all the facilities & swimming pool of the homestead within an outstanding 17th century olive mill located in Maussane les Alpilles.

We’re seeking someone who’s adaptable, team-spirited, and passionate about the arts. A driving licence is essential (and makes exploring Provence even more fun!).

Some oral/written French – or a willingness to learn – is also an advantage.
