Comme à la maison (like at home)
Tucked away in a rural setting on private grounds, the stunning stone Moulin de Gréoux presents an authentic, perfectly restored 17th century olive mill, a studio and an independent cottage with exquisite gardens. Located 20 minutes walk from the heart of the village, the homestead features imposing rooms with natural limestone walls and vaulted ceilings.
The magnificent reception area and gallery houses a bureau and grand piano. Alongside the olive mill’s original basins are displayed.
An adjoining dining room with wine cave, ancient olive press and lounge area invites creatives to partake in special soirées. A third smaller living room and arts library is equipped with a television and is ideal for private study and research, and is a pleasure to indulge in anytime day or night.
The kitchen with its high beamed ceilings sits between the courtyard and the indoor pool. It includes a massive central island with hanging copper pots and was once used as a commercial cooking atelier.
It is fully equipped for all your cooking requirements including a potager, where homegrown herbs and rustic tomatoes are in abundance. The adjoining garden with a pergola and clambering jasmine also includes a top of the range Weber barbecue.
The grand old almond tree with its pink blossom is joyful in springtime and the bird life bountifully tuck in. The gardens are a breathtaking cornucopia of heady perfume and dazzling colour.
The indoor 12×7 metre pool sits within the old barn adjoining the kitchen and opens out onto the Mediterranean garden. The pool house has been decorated ‘carnivale style’ with palms, 70’s style rattan furniture with colourful cushions, a stand up bar for those lazy days languishing in the Provençal heat, with a book in one hand and a glass of wine in the other.
The large studio located in an adjacent barn is equipped with easels, tables, and wall hanging space. It includes a kitchenette and dining area for your lunches.
An outdoor wet area with a sink for washing brushes and working with clay and or other materials is a welcome addition to the residency. A kiln is available for your usage at the nearby sculpture studio.
